Got it torn down. Not sure if this would make the noise but it can't be good. Both lifters in cylinder 7 were like this.

I wonder if that's from when you had the oil pump prob.

take a good look inside the plastic trays. same grooving? the lifters might have been slightly rotating in the bore. check the roller trunion at the bottom for cupping(best way i can describe it)/uneven wear if any. will usually mean the cam has wear as well.

Lifter rollers look good. Found one with very minimal wear. Cam lobes look good from what I see. Spoke withDon about it already

Got the car buttoned up today. Sound seems to be gone. Haven't driven it yet. Just has the regular sewing machine noise

Tell me about it. But some of its my fault. Should of put new lifters oil pump when it was put together the first time. Just didn't have the funds and the guy didn't want the motor hanging around waiting for parts.

Id like for someone to take a wack at what my pushrod length should be.

Stock block, no decking
LS6 cam
Stock heads cut .025
Ls7 lifters
GM mls stock gasket

any takers?

What is the lifter preload?
