Same here but I still use Fram for some reason. I can get the Napa golds from work which are Wix filters though.

I have had a couple of friends cars lose their engines due to a fram oil filter. Don't know the specifics but I was told that by a couple of people.

Huh, we cut open 4-5 different brands we had laying around one day cause we were curious. I remember the K&N was brittle as hell inside and crumbled when we touched it and all the rest were either brittle or had a lot less pleating inside than the fram. Didn't do an actual filtration test but it visually looked nicer inside than the rest we had on hand.

x2 fram sucks
i always use the delco filters (on all the trucks) but i use the k&n on the camaro for the same reason you r considering. ive never had a problem but really only drove 20,000 in 5 years. all in all im happy

The two specific issues I remember with Fram filters were cardboard end caps inside and less filter media than other brands. There may have been more but that's what I remember.

From the ones that I cut open I can say that without a doubt the fram looked to have a lot more filter media than the rest that we had on hand.

Fram=Fail. ive actually seen them come apart. i will never use them again after seeing that. and i think K&N is a waiste of money unless its coming with a oil change special for cheap.

Here's a page I found with lots of in depth info on many brands of filters. This info is about ten years old, so some of it may not be accurate anymore.

I actually stand by Amsoil Filters

I cut open a few different ones a while back, and Fram was all Paper and Cardboard.... WIX well that was flimsy and very little filter material from what I remember

When we cut ope the Amsoil Filter it was solid and had two layers of metal mesh filter screens...

I've had no issues using for Amsoil Filters almost 10 years now, but I only drive the car 3,500 miles a year... Although I do beat the snot out of it
