Finally got gingerbread

Yeah so my Thunderbolt finally got the update from shitty Froyo to Gingerbread. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/10...ut-once-again/ Not like anyone of you would know or do care but this update had been delayed so FUCKIN many times for this phone by VZW!!! But it seems to have had a slight impact on this phones incredible battery consumption. Used to die almost every 4 hours but its clear 2.3 manages tasks and memory much better than before. Theres a few other cool features too that imprved, runs much smoother but nothing special...

good luck rooting it now. after the gingerbread updae VZW locked all forms of root. and you have to flash the phone back to stock. like wen it first came out stock. then run a custom recovery. and install a custom rom. if you run a stock rooted rom vzw will force the update and you will lose root again. ohh and while doing all this you lose your data file that communicates with the cell tower and you will have to call verizon and HOPE they believe you and re flash the file to you phone. dialing #228 wont work as the network already knows your phone is activated. i dont like ginger bread. its more of a memory hog then 2.2.1. and if you had just rooted 2.2 and ran a root only memory killer like my phone you will get HOURS of battery life while playing games and running email and text.

The update that locked root had already been done we got an OTA update back in July and I knew not to download it, but I was in the LAb in PR connected to wifi and it did the download on its own >.<

So I was already fucked for the rooting, but it can still be done

Just not as easy as mounting the card with su like before. Ahh well your phone not mine! And mine run velocity awesome! So I'm happy. You happy with gingerbread? I can get it if I want. Worth it? All the people I know who have it say they aren't too thrilled with it. You seem to be?
