Default my $1800 Silverado 2500 6.0

Just snagged this badboy for $1800. Picking it up Saturday. Cash/title swap. It's got a knocking lifter but my gut is telling me it just needs a flush. Only 136k miles.

2000 Silverado 2500 6.0 4wd NO RUST! Minor surface rust. Was a landscape/camper truck that wasn't driven in the winter and it shows. the springs seem a little sagged and the bump stops in the front are pretty damn beat to hell so it's been loaded. Maybe replace all 4 springs. Maybe 2-3" lift springs for the back and crank the TB in the front.

4wd and 8' bed. Gonna plastidip it to cover the faded paint. I may try to buff it some day. It'll be my new DD till the R32 sells.

I'll have to run the RPO's to see if it's a 4L80.. Should be.

Are you positive it's a lifter and not an exhaust leak? Those 6.0s are a bit noisy anyway and know for exhaust manifold bolts being crap. My 6.0 makes a little noise sometimes when it's cold. It's a rock solid engine when taken care of.

Sweet deal. I have an 01 and love it. Now buy a cheap plow this summer and rake in the cash next winter.

thats what I'd do^

My buddy started building up a similar 4x4 truck and man, Its just not worth it imo. Stick with 2wd for sick builds. But then again, his is a 1500. The 4L80 should hold up much better to 4x4 launches haha.

Also, plastidip seems real silly. Patina'd SOM is like finding a unicorn from the future.

I've thought of that too!

It's definitely a knock. This gets slightly quieter when you rev it a little so that tells me it's not a rod bearing. Those tend to be kinda quiet at idle but get VERY loud if you rev it. I still have to give it some time to listen to it but the second I pick it up, there's a NAPA 2.2145 miles down the street so I'm stopping there on the way home. Getting a couple cases of oil, seafoam, marvel mystery oil, Engine flush and a bunch of maintenance items. Gonna throw a little Mystery oil in right there so it'll start the process while I'm driving it home. Gonna give it a good listen on the way home. I don't think he was meticulous about his maintenance.

That'd be sweet... but for an $1800 truck, I'm gonna have a hard time really dumping money into this other than tires, suspension items and maybe throwing a tune on it. The underhood and door jambs are silver and the paint is red and it's about to be black or flat OD/MIL Green. So it's almost three different colors now.. lol
I'd like to put a turbo in it and just call it good.. But all in die time. I still have to play catch up now on my savings so I can get back on track. I'm "supposed to" be saving for a house for later this year.
I think this is going to be something for me to tinker with to keep that side of me happy. I have to have something to tinker with or I'll go out of my mind... like I am now. It's too expensive to tinker with the R32..... and too much of a PITA.
