Default Oil filter question

I'd like to run a taller oil filter on my car if possible. I'm pretty sure I've read that there is one intended for trucks and such that would work. Does anyone know what application I could use to find this filter (I.E. 97 Sierra half ton 5.7 or whatever)? I'd like to use a Purolator Pureone. I've looked at the oil filters available for my exact application, they are all pretty short, the only exception is the K&N which is a little taller but is like $13.

Yup, I did some digging over at LS1Tech and I got the skinny. You can look up a '97 C1500 with the 5.7 and get the right part number. Here are some for reference:

Purolator Pureone PL34631
Purolator L34631
K&N HP-3002
Mobil 1 M1-302
Delco PF1218
Bosch 3510
STP S5

I went over to Advance and took some measurements. Most of the F Body filters are about 3 1/8" high, with the exception of the K&N, which is about 4 3/4", 1/2" of which is the nut for wrench removal. The truck filters vary in size, 5 1/8" for the Purolator, 5 3/8" for the Mobil 1, 4 1/2" for the AC Delco, and 5 3/4" for the K&N (again including 1/2" for the hex head).

Keep in mind if you have long tube headers you may not have enough clearance to use some of these.

Cause of your remote filter kit lol.

I'm not a fan of K&N oil filters after we played around cutting open filters one day at the garage. The innards of the K&N were very brittle. From our highly unscientific hacking I'm a fram fan lol.

Every actual comparison I've ever seen put Fram at the bottom of the list, without exception.

I used the tall one for the 1500 on mine before I got the oil temp adapter, the tall ones are a must have for those of us running LT's. (IMO)

after I put the adapter on it dropped the filter down 2" so the shorter filters are easier to get at now, but still don't mind using the taller ones.
