I read through this thread a little more. I think the duralast rotors or napa rotors would be fine. Though going with a decent street/performance pad like Hawk HPS isn't a waste by any means in my opinion. I'm frugal with my car modifications too and I'm saying this. If you just go with the whatever pads, I think you get what you pay for. HPS actually last a long time. They have a little dust but it's easy dust to clean off wheels. It's not like we're talking about HT10's or real racing pads that you need to warm up a little before they actually stop.
So my opinion is.. stock calipers (assuming 3rd gens are decent), napa or duralast rotors, and a decent brakepad like HPS or ceramic if you want less brake dust and willing to sacrifice a little stopping power. |

just maintaning brakes is all you have to do to have good brakes my car has stock brakes...bigger "better" brakes wont stop it much faster. but this is all average street driving if you were on a road course it would be different

Anytime you want to do a side by side 60-0 your third gen with stock brakes vs mine with c5 front/lt1 rear disks I'd be happy to. I know from driving both back to back that bigger brakes make a HUGE difference in how quickly you can stop. But, it is very true that unless you drive like an asshole on the street all the time (like me lol) or road race/autocross the car than the stock stuff will work ok. I myself cant deal with stock stuff, by comparison I have destroyed pads and warped the rotors on both stock third gen and stock lt1 brakes. Both within a few months of driving. It is entirely possible for stock brakes to be completely inadequate on the street if you push the car to it's limits all the time. Trust me, there's a reason why it's faster for me to take the back roads home from work at 3 am. I can go much faster than i can going down rt2. No cops on the back roads at that hour lol.
