Default A/C Clutch making a "ting" sound...

Ok guys, noticed that my a/c clutch seems like it's needing an adjustment. I know it's not the bearing because there is no movement in it and only makes noise when the clutch isn't engaged. Has anybody done this with just everyday tools and if so, how?

Thanks!

you will need a clutch hub puller if your going to change JUST the clutch. id do the whole compressor. it isnt much more then the clutch is.

I was thinking of just "cheating" and buying a belt w/o ac to bypass it in the routing of the belt but that wouldn't fix it. Figured it might be the clutch actually sitting too close to the hub and causing it to rub. Anybody got a part number of one that'd fit our wonderful delco compressor hubs, or anybody got one that they'd mind sharing where it was bought from?

Good thing is that the ac isn't charged, or at least feels like it isn't. So ripping the unit out of the car isn't an issue, just finding the right tool might be

to bypass it you just cut the belt. its a separate belt for the A/C comp. and its probably just the idler/tensioner. they always go bad.

Well I just ripped it all out and said fuck it. Wasn't spending 400 on a new compressor for a car I might drive once a week. But pizza is right it could just be the tensioner/idler. I did however have my first compressor clutch take a shit in the drive through and it made a ticking/bearing type noise.

Gonna rip the belt off it, don't use the ac anyways and check the tensioner and idler pulleys to see if that's the culprit.

Updated:
Found out it was after all just the ac clutch, the tensioner and idler pulleys are nice and tight. About maybe 1.5-2 full spins and then stops. Besides, who needs ac when you got t-tops anyways
