I'm going to take the aadvice and do meth or race gas I am not trying to chase some pump gas record just want to have some fun and not pull this motor apart every 3 months haha
Side note tore the motor down and it looks great pisonts rods cylinders all look just like when it was assembled. I'm picking up an 03 lq4 today for 300 so next step I gotta decide is leave stock rod bolts and bearings or just try new arp and clevelite/king bearings again.

SLP IROC-Z 07-28-2013 02:11 PM

i wouldnt run the ARPs without having the rod size checked, that could have been your problem.

My friend brought up a good point. When the turbo went and filled the motor with brass that could of hurt it also everything looks good besides a couple bearings and one spun so it really seems down to oiling . Either way ill be picking up a meth kit is it an easy install?

I'm not sure why but I love looking at these cars without their bumper on. Maybe the reason I like this so much is the inter cooler haha

If you still have no meth, I would run higher octain than 100.

Looks like the converter made a difference.

Ya im not taking it any further than this level I'm going to try e85 just my system will be on the limits at 58psi base. If so c16 it is. :)
ya Don the spool up is so much better I'm really happy with it. Still having trans issues I found out I have a mismatched pump. That's what I was told the top port on mine is the feed which is backwards. So its not flowing through my cooler its just dead heading! Ill pull it Tuesday and hopefully its fixed once and for all! I still want the meth kit if you could pm me a price ill be doing that with my forged motor

Thanks man I'm happy with it 300 dollar stock bottom end and basically overweight car running low 9s didn't think it was possible. Not sure where id remove a big chunk of weight

Camaro9969 10-04-2013 12:10 AM

Yup bent the rods. Ran another 9.2@147 1.30 60' came up and bounced off the limiter a bunch so messed up my shift but after the pass heard aa knock. When I pulled the motor I was happy to see all of my rods bent lol.
These were gen III rods which are thinner as you can see in ththe pic but they were at the limit around 925 crank

Scrap metal :) its what happens when you make too much power for stock parts (this motor at least)
But now got a 370 and getting my new stock crank put in all coated bearings mains studded weisco -11cc pistons and compstar rods .......

camarokid91 10-04-2013 01:56 PM

Damn that sucks and is an expensive fix.

it was only a 300 dollar motor i could of bought another stock motor or even just put bearings in my old rods threw them in the motor that bent rods would of cost me about 150 but i just dont want to deal with a stock bottom end anymore. Its awesome to say you ran this or made this power but I have too much to do to always be working on my own car. I have 3 customers turbo builds to do and my car needs to go away! lol

Slowhawk 10-04-2013 02:21 PM

Now just remember a forged motor can break too if pushed too hard. Spend the time and make sure all the parts going on the motor are strong too. Then make sure you tune with octain to keep the hot spots out of the motor.

Oh i know that one thats why i thought of going with another stocker.
Its at the shop getting line honed main studs coated bearings everything needed to hopefully stay together. I bought a new oil pump will run AMS oil again just whatever the engine builder says i should run depending on the oil clearances i told him i wanted .0025-.0028, I am only going to run c16 for the rest of the year and come spring i will have a meth kit from you.

Slowhawk 10-04-2013 03:25 PM

Well, my motor will come out in a month or so. We'll see how it looks after a season. I know it needs rings but that should be it.

Camaro9969 10-25-2013 10:30 PM

Ran today have the lowering springs in back cut a 1.36 60' but screwed up my 1-2 shift. Either I spun on the launch or almost hit the back bumper. Car has way more torque couldn't leace with more than 10psi and maxed at 20psi. Had a 9.7@95 lol and a 10.3@149.61 now my rear shocks are showing their heads so ill see what I can do the next few days but to keep it down the rear needs adjustment
