welcome man and all camaros firebirds and trans ams are f-bodys, it's defined by the VIN letter representing the body style, just like all impalas and caprices are b-bodies

It's a GM production code. Corvettes are Y-bodies, Cavaliers are J-bodies, etc...

From Camaro Forty Years: "It would have to be quicker in the quarter-mile, have a faster top-end speed, and handle better than the Ford. And it would have to utilize the Mustang's conventional design, with a liquid-cooled engine in front driving the rear wheels. This meant that Chevy's new pony car, internally coded the "F" body project (often theorized to be an allusion to the obvious fact that it had come into existance as a direct response to Ford's popular pony car, though in reality it was simply a random letter assigned to the car) would utilize architecture similar to Rybicki's and Haga's earlier sporty coupe concept cars rather than be a version of Mitchell's super Corvair idea."

So im slowly discovering things that might make the body junk. I knew about the bit of damage to the pinch weld under the drivers door, i think the guy went curb hopping and then sold it (for 2400 it was worth the engine and tranny and everything minus the body lol). Turns out the drivers rear quater is starting to rust in a small 1 inch by 1 inch patch bottom left of the gas cap. Any one seen a clean 95 or before camaro shell. Im sure ill have to rent a trailor and pick one up from the south, but if anyone has seen one let me know. I need to have one of you guys look at the pinch weld and see what you think. It drives stright and don't think there was any real frame damage just astictics, ill take a pic later and post it up.

Yea, this spot is small and ill easly just cut it out and patch it, but, being a new england car its time is already #ed. Ill poke around on southern craigs list. I never intended to keep this body, but expected to keep it a smidge longer. So next season I'll hopefully transfer everything to a new body. :Dumb:

bottledbird68 04-12-2011 11:30 PM

Heh, our 95 has a clean body :)

Beyond that I'll keep my eyes open ;)

~Update~
Was bored today and with the quabbin cruise coming up wanted to make sure i could listen to CDs and not the raido for the 5+ hour trip on sunday.

Just got done wiring in a new head unit (well old but new to the camaro) and two s series alpines that the kid who sold me my civic forgot to take out. My stock head unit quit playing cds and a couple of the bose speakers were blown. Wired up the 12vs and ground and ran new speaker wire to the front speakers.

Took all of a 3 hours working at a turtles pace.

For being very under powered 15 rms on head unit vs 50 rms on speakers, sound alot clearer. Gotta pick up a 2 channel and mono amp and a 12" sub and ill be good to go. Will be so glad to have a system back. Cant stand being able to look out my rear view while listening to music...:sCh_eleguitarist:
