Just waiting for parts to come in (K member, and control arms)

Camaro9969 02-23-2012 06:42 PM

Formula413 02-25-2012 06:34 PM

I think the bud light is only used during installation

Camaro9969 02-25-2012 10:01 PM

What am i getting myself into......Didnt expect to sell the rear end in not even 12 hours. Just picked up another lq4 with 105k for cheap now starts the hard work switching everthing over from the ls to lq

941LE 02-25-2012 10:03 PM

looks like a ton of fun!

Camaro9969 02-25-2012 10:22 PM

haha it will be all worth it in the end.....

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-26-2012 03:47 PM

Fun my ass that looks wayyy too much like work. Buy a lift.....

84ta406 02-26-2012 03:51 PM

Hahahaha if only you saw how I have to work on my car pizza LOL

Camaro9969 02-27-2012 12:06 PM

The lift is the cheap part id already have one if the garage was high enough for it. So this is my only way. At least i have a garage i guess haha

ZFreie 02-27-2012 02:46 PM

Know its not exactly ideal but you could get a low rise lift, I know Id prefer to have the car a couple feet off the ground then me on the ground on my back lol

Camaro9969 02-27-2012 06:19 PM

Well here we go........Pulled the heads off the 105k 2004 denali lq4 and this looks like shit. and that oil in there is tranny fluid WTF??? Why? It has a 90 day warranty so i'll just bring it back and get another if this is shot. It spins freely no problem at all. But this looks like hell to me anyways....

Camaro9969 02-27-2012 09:05 PM

Just talked to the guy at the yard and he said they add tranny fluid to the motors to keep it lubricated.........find that weird but hey whatever. Ive got a compression test they did on it getting faxed to me so at least thats alright. For a motor that would be fine to run as it sits it sure looks like ass!!!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-28-2012 04:25 AM

looks like your doing all the gaskets and seals that touched that tranny fluid. it will swell them all up and cause leaks. Stupid on there part.

Camaro9969 02-28-2012 04:36 PM

Yup i dont get what the deal was. IDIOTS but i was taking the whole thing apart anyways so i guess it doesnt matter. i'm getting more parts than i planned, cam springs pushrods, kartech bolts.......oh wait magna fuel pump filter, regulator, fast rails 160lb injectors this is getting expensive

quik95lt1 02-28-2012 07:15 PM

you rebuilding the shortblock or running it as is?

Camaro9969 02-29-2012 01:50 AM

I think i'm going to leave it the way it is. I'm bringing it to a machine shop tomorow to check it out see what he thinks about it. I need to clean it up somehow any suggestions?

Slowhawk 02-29-2012 02:44 AM

Watch out on the 160lb injectors. They are not very street freindly if you plan on driving it. I'm running 120's on my setup.

i actually have a set of 120's also i got a hell of a deal on the 160's. But e85 is hard to find around here maybe i'll just go with the 120's that will be plenty for pump gas and some race fuel here and there. I've been buying all the big stuff. the maganfuel pump i got is good for 1500 hp. I just want to get this all done before the end of april. Don you have a th400 sitting around? lol maybe even a 12 bolt? :)

Slowhawk 02-29-2012 02:56 PM

The shit adds up quickly. Good luck with the april date. We are running 80's in Sams car and I know those will handle 900-1000rwhp.

I have my T400 which is big $$.

im going to try a tune on E85 this year in mine.........its in canton Ma, seekonk, ma and dennis k burke has it also up in chelsea........if you do try e85 just beware that the winter mixes are not 85% i tested the fuel in seekonk and its %76 right now......e98 is very hard to find in this area i purchased 10 gallons from hyperfuels online so i can mix to the percentage i want.....im going to run 85% in mine to start.......looking forward to tuning and experimenting with the corn juice.....way cheaper than 114 and from what im hearing will make more torque in an HCR NA app like mine.......works great with FI also

80s but he doesn't run e85 right??

quik95lt1 02-29-2012 06:11 PM

need 30% more fuel flow with 85% more if you increase the enthanol %

Ya i know thats why i was going with 120 or 160 injectors. but its a pain in the ass since they are low imp so i need some sort of converter to high. not even sure what it is. cant anything ever be simple. haha i should just go with the 83's they are good for like 900 (pump gas) and forget about this e85 all together

Camaro9969 02-29-2012 08:35 PM

Well cleaned up the engine a bit surprised it came out as good as it did

941LE 02-29-2012 08:44 PM

huge difference

Slowhawk 02-29-2012 08:45 PM

e-85 is good but I'm just going pump/ Methenol injection. Get's the benefit of cooling/high octain with the methenal and the easy access pump gas for driving around. At the track I'll put in some high test for the 1k+ rwhp runs.

I could see a good benefit running it in a high compression NA car. Definitely cheaper than race fuel - for now.

Don't know where you got the injectors but the 120/160 one's I'm looking at are high impedence.

quik95lt1 02-29-2012 09:28 PM

yea like don said in our area i would absolutly go pump gas on methanol/water injection.......e85 isn't widely avilable enough to run on it for a street car not to mention as i said a few posts ago the consistancy must be mainained for the tune to maintain its consistancy........just not pratical in our area for a street car........they do make high lb/hr high z injectors however im not a fan the open/cls rate on the valves in the injector are not that fast compared to a low z injector with the peak and hold 4A circuitry control.....the low z injector will be easier to tune for the street and will be more managable due to the lower minimum pluse time and more consistant open and closing times from injector to injector........if you do want to run the low z injectors accleeronics makes a module called the versafuler which will allow ur stock ls1 pcm to control the low z injectors.....think its only in the 250$ range.......may want to look into it, it will be well worth your $$ at $250

good luck with your build :D

Camaro9969 03-01-2012 12:27 AM

Thank you i'm still on the fence its a tough decision. The e85 is about 15mins from my house at a station but getting 4mpg might not be worth it!!!! Also Don I got the injectors from a guy on lstech

Where did you get high impedence 120's?? What did they cost? I really dont want to buy a converter box for the injectors but if i have to i will....

Camaro9969 03-11-2012 09:52 PM

Little more progress made waiting for parts to come in to put it all back together..... Bought a TU2 236 236 .587 .587 112.5 Cam from Speed Inc..Pushrods, Lunati Double Spring kit, LS9 Gaskets, FAST Fuel Rails, SLP Double Timing Chain, SLP Oil Pump, ARP Head Bolts and Rod bolts. Then Going in to start it up and mock the piping.....

thing looks AWESOME!!! Way Better then wen you got it!!! you get the conn. rods resized after the bolts?

Slowhawk 03-12-2012 12:00 AM

Head bolts? I hope you mean head studs.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 03-12-2012 12:12 AM

how much of a benifit are the syuds over bolts for a turbo/FI application. and worth it for an N/A Setup?

Thanks man and yup I did I read a million threads about whether to resize or not since they are cracked but when it came down to it...40 bucks to resize them might as well eventhough personally I think if you do one at a time your fine but like i ssaid 40 dollars and now I dont have to worry

vague.......more a matter of predicted cylinder pressures than that.....with a gapless ringset and 14.25:1 im running studs without question with a cometic....a composite gasket and bolts didn't last long at all on mine four years ago....
