And I would also like to think people without 100k see the ZR1 and decide to get a base C6 or a ZR1, not with intentions to outperform the ZR1 but to have a affordable street car LIKE it that isn't exactly as insane but.. You get it.
100k for a bunch of un-necessary shit imo unless you hit the road track every weekend. Then in that case it isn't a car about rarity and gunuinity its just a straight up thrasher car mass produced to provide as many people with insane fun around the world. That's success.

I can agree but only to a degree. The Vette has been the Chevy "king of the Hill" for nearly 60 years. And I agree that unnessasary shit is just that. Most can't drive the base car to it's limits let alone the ZR1.
Where I don't agree is where expense comes into the equation "need to spend millions and millions" were I do agree it would cost multiple millions, cost is a relative term. They spend millions every year on advertisement including millions of dollars on just one super bowl ad. Even if the car costs more to produce than they can sell it for, it would put Chevy in the eyesight of many other consumers that see chevy as a low cost alternative to other brands. The magazines would eat it up.... the blue collar chevy is taking on the best, not only in speed but in appearance and build quality. Let's face it, we all can not afford a 100k car, but much like motorcycles the technology trickles down to the lesser models and becomes less costly to produce as quantities increase. I remember when the CBRF4 was the king, now that motor is used in the base level "sport tourer" A whole new generation of kids will look at this supercar as something to strive toward. It's not hard to buy a 10 year old Vette for 15k. Try that with a ferrari or Lamborghini. We need a car that is always something a kid dreams about and the lucky few can afford. If it comes to easy it will not be held on a pedestal. Don't get me wrong there is a place for a base Vette, but the ZR1 just should not be the same as the rest of the line up. When dealers need to discount brand new left over Zr1 to sell it, there's problems that the management of GM is blind too. |
