Smokey belt
So, i went to replace the bad CV joint in my civic today, started it up to move it to the garage and the serpentine belt was squealing, gave it a rev or two to shut it up and it gets quiet. Then i notice some nice white smoke start to creap out from under the hood which quickly turned into smoke POURING out of the hood. I was like OH SHIT and shut the car off, popped the hood to see wtf happened. The alt pulley bearing had failed and got VERY hot before it seized and melted the serpentine belt. I'm gonna take pics of the belt, its crispy, like oh shit I burnt something on the grill crispy. I think its kinda funny, glad it happened when i was going to fix it anywho.
To bad the alt pivot bolt is rusted to no end, waiting for PB blast to do its trick. |
I'd say u got real lucky , because if it was me I would be at least 100mi from home lol

you mean aside from the fact that you have no room to wiggle it? big ass breaker if you can fit it, otherwise open ended wrench and try to smack the shit out of it...again i know this is all tough but it can be done...IIRC from under the car if were talking about the same bolt
