Hello everyone, I'm a new member from southern NH. I recently bought an 01 Camaro and caught word of this sight so had to check it out. I like it, can't get enough of the car right now so I'm sure I'll like this forum.

EDIT: Pics Added. Sorry I don't know a thing about resizing these I realize they're showing up massive. What do you all think of the tips? I would like them tucked under the bumper a lil more, but other than that I kinda like em its different. Anyway enjoy the pics

I'm in Pelham and the car is a black 01 SS, I'll try to get some pictures when I can get my hands on a camera. Its in pretty good shape but the engines hurting right now. I bought it as is with a nasty tick, but its not a big deal to me because I already have an lq4 shortblock I'm gonna swap in at some point when I get some spare change. So I've just been taking it easy for now haha.

Its hard to tell but to me it sounds too solid(thunk thunk) to be a bad lifter(tick tick tick) but I have no experience with ls1s. If it is a bad lifter an afternoon and your car would be right as rain. Oh and I live in Pelham to Tri, I responded on the other thread.

and that knock sounds like a bad rocker. do you have needle bearings in the oil pan? if not bad trunnion on a lifter. But again its on a YouTube video So who the EFF knows!! haha good luck.

Tips def need to be moved back under the car, I'm also not one for skirting so if it were me id take the back skirting off. Other wise car looks good.

Yea I'm not a fan of it either but it hides all the exhaust pipe that hangs under the bumper otherwise. When I put the new engine in I wanna redo the whole exhaust anyway. Right now it has the LM1 with SLP longtubes its too loud for me, I'm always paranoid to get on it too much lol I gotta keep my driving record clean for work.

let me know when u want to get rid of the rear valance lol

Got it for 5 thousand at a local used car dealer. He had it on ebay too, but he took it down for me before the auction ended cause my family knows the guy. Car has 95k on it.

couldn't tell for sure but sounds like the typical LS1 tick, esp. it's got a set of headers on it.

I know jack about ls1s and what can go wrong normally, so whats typical?

was that car at the dealer next to mcdonalds on rt38 in pelham?

Oh i did, sounds like a rod knock to me. But based off that i might know where i can get an ls1 and rebuild it for my miata idea...once he swaps the other engine in. lol

knock/tick when its cold...goes away when its warm=normal called "piston slap" even tho it has nothing to do with the pistons lol

that knock= not normal haha

So the normal ls1 tick/knock they call piston slap...but its not? what exactly is it then? lol Cause i know what piston slap is...
