Biggest muffler?
 

Whats the biggest size muffler you guys have/ have seen fit under a 4th gen? I'm gonna be putting an exhaust on my car and I wanna do true duals but I need to keep it semi-quiet at the same time as I leave for work at 2:30 in the morning. Just wanna get an idea of what my options are really.

Maddies car sounds Great! you have an LS1? and she has a mufflex 4" cat back with a DynoMax Race Muffler?? and it sounds clean while cruising. and only gets LOUD wen she gets on it!

4" cat back will fit alot better then a dual 3 setup unless you want it dumped and loud or out the back and cluster fucked into the car. either that or keep what you got and wen you wanna go LOUD cut out!!!

Yeah I justt did the magnaflow catback with a electric cutout. Good investment.

I'm looking into cutout sooner or later, for those times you just want to piss people off or turn a few more heads.

Do borla adjustable so you can make it loud or as quiet as you want! how can you go wrong with that? In place of the plates i have an elec cutout. Best exhaust set up you can get imo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea a borla adjustable would be nice, but I don't think I wanna throw that much money at a catback. And I'm stubborn lol I wanna do a true dual setup, the car sounds nice as is right now but its raspy as shit. And I realize I can probably get rid of the rasp w/o redoing the whole exhaust but I don't like anything about how the exhaust was installed. Gonna be putting in a new engine in a few weeks and and then off to the exhaust shop. Any reccomendations for a custom exhaust? Sound clip of car now:

Ya i dont like the rasp but once you put it to the floor it sounds pretty mean. if your doing true duals well there you go should be awesome but very expensive. i heard if you run cats you wont have as much rasp but screw that noise

do you have headers, offroad y or cats?

SLP headers, the tuned length ones
Catted Y
LM1 resonator

Errr what I mean is I'm not gonna bother buying new cats for my new exhaust. I can think of 100 other things I could use the money on.

Yeah you can get good money for stock cats

i got 65 a piece for my cats...tru duals regardless are pretty loud...so maybe u should think about another route if u want quieter...id prob just do cut-outs, seems like more of what u want

No wonder its raspy.. Thats one of the worst combo for rasp.

If you want to get rid of that sound put a decent catback on it like a magnaflow. I really hate those SLP LM ones..

Idk I think I can do a pretty reasonable dual setup, I'm thinking I can get a couple decent size mufflers to fit behind the axle but its going to require some custom work.

The spare tire compartment is in the way on the passenger side so I'm gonna talk to the welder/fabricator guy down the road from me and see what he thinks about cutting the bottom off it and raising it up about 4 inches.

Then to get the pipe over the driver side axle I'm gonna need to put in a little heat shield or get something to go over the wires that are there. I know its a lot of work but it would be worth it to me for sure. Regardless, whatever I do the car is going to be quieter.

Thats a lot of fuckin work for duals.. Not even worth it, other than to say you have duals. Not to be a prick but I doubt you make enough power to need em too.

might as well just buy the kooks true duals setup, after all that time and money youll be better off.

Yeah not sure of the appeal besides bragging rights? You can still have a great sounding exhaust with a Y pipe.

Idk its not gonna be much work honestly. Theres a kid I work, I just found out he went to school for welding/fabrication he can have it done in no time; free of charge. After that its just getting the car to a good exhaust shop. And theres no power requirement to have dual exhaust haha. But anyway I'm not gonna comment anymore theres nothing else to it.

From what I've seen most true dual exhaust setups make less hp/tq than a single 3" catback. The worst one's are ussually 2.5" setup's. The length of the pipes going over the axle kills it.
The most affective are the 3" duals dumping under the car before the axle but they are stupid loud.

I like the electric cutout with magnaflow catback. Simple and affective.
I'd spend the money on selling the SLP headers and putting on Kooks or American Racing.

They're not THAT loud....:pfff:
