nah its a common failure point on these cases. even strong aftermarket cases have a weakness in that spot. i had to clearance mine ALT to get the gears to fit with the right preload with out rubbing. we'll see if mine holds up..... again. i dont recommend the Summit case. if i knew how crude the casting was i wouldnt have gotten it.

mike you know any info on how the moser case is ? aluminum through bolt is what i have

they are all weak in that spot. no matter what case. thats why they have hp ratings. but like joe sed if the pinion preload is loose and the pinion can walk up or down your breaking that thing off.

ah well i should probably get cracking on doing a rebuild on mine to make sure on it then I have a solid spacer though. so it may take a little more of a hit.

there is good 9 " rears and there is bad ones.

Damn you guys in your breaking 9 inches. Never had a issue with mine at all.

anything will break if its not setup properly, oh well

took a look at the pinion/support had 0 preload, pinion would move side to side probably .005 of an inch, took the pinion nut off and removed the pinion, both bearings wiped out, inner one was the worst, cage and bearings fell right off when i tipped the pinion upside down. support is just a standard one, nothing special. so either the preload was way to tight to begin with and smoked the bearings causing it to loosen up or the preload was to loose from setup or crush sleeve giving out.

looks like ill be starting from scratch, everything is junk except the trutrac and pinion yoke.

Wow that sucks man even busting 9"s is rough hard to launch a 10 bolt without worrying about it. Hope you get it fixed soon

after a lot of looking i think im going to go with a strange pro iron N 3.062" case, nodular daytona support & 4.30 motive lightened gear set.

lightend 4.30s on the way, going bullet proof strange pro iron nodular case & nodular daytona support. im not doing this a third time!

decided to go with the strange n1917 billet aluminum daytona support, pricey little fucker but after talking to strange its stronger than the nodular daytona support. also needed a new pinion yoke, my long yoke wont work with a daytona support so i ordered a billet aluminum 1350 short yoke. figured if i was going to start from scratch to do it right. the lightened gear set and aluminum yoke will save 4lbs of rotating weight, would be nice to see a gain from it but it certaintly wont hurt anyway.

now just need to sell some more shit on ebay and save for a case and install kit.

Only thing I can see is why the aluminum yoke? Different expansions of the metals could cause a spline roll under heat and high loads. Aren't the aluminum yokes for circle track?

they offer them for drag racing. its a forged billet aluminum yoke, not cast.

ohh well thats good. i got a billet steel for mine. only thing aluminum about mine is the billet aluminum pinion support like yours. either way a strong setup for sure! good luck. i still have a spool!!!!!!! :)
