Getting back into the Game.

ive been out of the loop for some time now. used to Really know what was good bad and what to really stay away from.

So in your guys opinion what is THE BEST shit out there now? AMD Still king in the gaming world? Intel still run at 9 million degrees???? hahaha

looking into the new AMD FX 8150 Possibly the 8120 that Just came out. they are unlocked(over clocked to a new world record of 8.429 ghz) and are 8 CORE Yeah 8 cpu's on one die! so im thinking thats the one for my new rig. But intel? whatb do they have? seems they have gotten alot more geared towards business end and less towards us gamer geeks?

Tech Talk forum man! hahaha

KLAB 11-10-2011 06:35 AM

I like this!

Idk much about REALLY good current processors like the core iX but if you're considering an upgrade look into not super up to date AMD but current-ish....

I'm overclocking my Athlon2 x4 630 to 3.2 GHz pretty DAMN stable, designing 3D parts in a very heavy Pro Engineer program, on internet, handling multiple excel/word files and playing music. I never get any hang ups and I cant see the typical PC used demanding much more out of a PC than me. Its a very cheap processor too...

I also got 4G memory (now seems low) and Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 which hangles 3D animations like cake in ProE and SolidWorks and plays all my computer games and BluRays weeeee!

Total build cost was like $600 newegg build!

:klab:

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-10-2011 02:33 PM

yeah but see. i dont want last years technology. everytime i build i build DAMN NEAR the best Mainstream system out there. and like my AMD Athlon64 i have now its still taking care of business 5 years old. i just recently installed a new 250gig SATA hdd. and my boar only supports 1.5Gbps transfer and its UNBELIEVABLE faster then my 300mbps EIDE. So i want a new board like that Crosshair V or the M5A99X Maybe the Sabertooth(seems more server board then gaming/Video Rendering) so i can buy the Best processor platform out there. from AMD!!!! i looked into Intel. Hahaha what a joke

AMD's new FX series of processors are unlocked first off. hitting record high clock speeds. and the comparable Intel I7 core is $1000!!!! Yeah the FX 8150 top dawg AMD is 350....... figure that one out..... Fuck Intel Paying for a Name!

KLAB 11-10-2011 05:04 PM

The new AMD's are even faster thats what I'm saying, at the time I built mine my processor was the newest so yeah go AMD or go home.

SLP IROC-Z 11-10-2011 07:13 PM

intel 8088 baby!

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-11-2011 12:08 AM

benchmark tell half the story. get a Cpu benchmark written to target Intels Architecture and Holy shit they whip AMD's ass. now do the same for an amd Architecture. same result amd wins. people are and will always be biased. so will benchmarkers. all be it the data is good. just not Gospel. if you know what i mean?

monytorris 11-11-2011 05:39 AM

Yes, I threw that up there more for the listing of cpu's and prices than the actual test.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-11-2011 01:07 PM

Ahhhh. i was just voicing my educated(haha) opinion on the whole benchmark BS. so i still feel like AMD is the way to go. too bad too. AMD is Japan and Intel is American. would be nice to support our country a little bit. but wen the fuck you THAT bad for a CPU and the mobo's are $100 more. for a MINOR performance gain. if any? its tough to argue.

monytorris 11-11-2011 02:52 PM

this is one conversation I try to avoid. It's like the mustang/camaro war or politics of the IT room, you can never win. Each one has it's advantages, it really comes down to personal preference.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-11-2011 03:39 PM

i agree!

KLAB 11-11-2011 05:16 PM

thats the whole reason this countrys fucked everything made here is so expensive and shit made in china is BETTER esp electronics and cheaper so WTF? and no jobs here cuz everythings made there so nobody has money to buy the expensive processors

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-11-2011 07:36 PM

borderline KLAB. onn topic PLEASE!

ZFreie 11-12-2011 03:34 AM

I've built a bunch of systems now, and this is my view on it.

AMD cpu
NVidia gfx
Asus mobo

Intel cps are just bland to me, they run kinda hot, arnt crazy fast, but last forever and can be abused. Id need a HUGE cps cooler to OC my current intel setup, i bsod this thing all the time from over heating while gaming. Still works tho, I cooked an old amd cpu(not the one i was ocing to 3.9) from doing that one to many times. lol

My AMD I could OC to hell. It was set around 3.9ghz lol

The only difference between this system and my last is diferent mobo and cpu, they are both around the same specs and the AMD was hands down better. I had more control in the bios, ran cooler, better performance.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-12-2011 12:36 PM

yeah thats what ive always seen. maybe more threw put threw the intel but at what cost? you need a 50w+ air cooler or water cooler just to keep em around 125* ive found?

have you looked into the new unlocked FX series from AMD? im thinking about going middle road with them. getting the ASUS M5A99X mobo with the AMD FX 6100 six core cpu. and a middle of the road radeon hd 9750.

ZFreie 11-12-2011 03:27 PM

Honestly, I use 32bit everything, more then 2 cores is almost useless for me. Id prefer to spend the extra money from the cpu in the gfx department for my self, games are far more gfx oriented now, well most games lol

Once windows proves they are gonna keep the same operation system for more then a couple year public beta (vista), ill switch. lol

I think my next rig is gonna be the
$100~ AMD Phenom II X2 565 Callisto 3.4GHz
$500~EVGA GeForce GTX 580
with water cooling OCed to over 4ghz, 4gig of ram, 1000w modular psu, 160gig SSD and then a 500g-1T HDD

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-12-2011 06:06 PM

i never got why one would spend SO much money on one card. you can run 2 $100 cards SLI or Crossfire-X and have more throughput then one monster card. or even better the new 3 and 4 card SLI or Cross.

Thats just my idea anyway.

i want the new architecture of the AM3+/990FX chipset and want to utilize all that it has to offer. So running a Phenom or Older CPU wont be for me. i use my computer more for video/audio editing type of shit and what i have no takes SOOOOO long to render an AVI/MP4 to DVD format. so thats more my end goal.

ZFreie 11-12-2011 06:46 PM

Cause SLI or crossfire is a pain. Ive looked into it trust me. ill spend alot on my video card and use it for the next 5 years like i did with my 8800gt lol plus not needing a special mobo with enough slots saves costs.

But i do understand why you want to have newer shit, for me, i get the performance i want in unorthodox ways for gaming lol

Another good point, hdmi out is awesome, not a big difference between "lcd computer monitors" and "lcd tvs" anymore.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-12-2011 09:35 PM

yeah problem with that is its WAY cheaper to get a long VGA cord to run to my TV then a $100 35 ft. HDMI cord. But the clarity will do wonders!!!! my video card died maybe 2 years ago and the only thing that was available for off the shelf AGP 8x(yeah...) was this shitty Nvidia 6200 gt! Trash of a card even after the overclocking from BFG. and honestly after the FX series of cards. price for price ive been happier with ATI/AMD over Nvidia Lately.

ZFreie 11-12-2011 09:38 PM

I ran a couple ati cards a while ago, perhaps they are better now? and omg a 6200gt lolol and agp, i havnt seen that in a long time lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-13-2011 01:30 AM

yeah man! ive had this thing built sence 04!!! still runs strong. wich is why ive never cared to upgrade. but now that im getting into higher cpu demanding shit. time for a redo. and my video card is starting to act up it seems. while im running dual display(T.V. and Monitor) the performance goes to SHIT now. So UPGRADE TIME!!!

ZFreie 11-13-2011 02:47 AM

Jezz, my rig is from like 08ish, your def in need of an upgrade more then me lol. My rig is just shy of the performance i need, which is a kick in the nuts cause the bios on intels suck and i cant change the clock speed easily.

Damn man 8 bux for the cord i need!!! Nice Find!!!!!

DemonWithin99 11-15-2011 09:06 AM

I'll be rebuilding my desktop again soon. just brought it back to life last year so I could use my monster TV as a monitor, but found that it's still a bit slow in the processing dept.
my buddy has a rig setup we've been talking about for a few months, but I think we'll put it on the back burner till we see what's out this time next year.

AMD FTW BTW!!

KLAB 11-15-2011 10:27 PM

NP mike!!! mono price is the shit grab a wall mount for your tv too! PS newegg has a entry to win the 8 core amd fx I'm doin it hahaha.

http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail...-_-sweepstakes

That would be a sick fast PC weeeeee :klab:

ZFreie 11-16-2011 10:47 AM

yea no kidding klab, im on my phone, hiw much do the cpu and mobo go for by them self? few hundred bucks each?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-16-2011 01:03 PM

wtf the stupid validation code wont work for me! piece of shit!!!

ohh and the crosshair v board is 229 and the amd fx 8150 is 270!

KLAB 11-16-2011 06:47 PM

The code worked for me. Keep refreshing it?

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-17-2011 02:26 AM

yeah i did get it.

ZFreie 11-17-2011 02:45 PM

I expected them to be alot more lol

ILuvPizzaTimes10 11-17-2011 03:01 PM
