well one day after some adjustments i decided to take it for a ride and once in 3rd gear at wide open throttle there was an empty moment where i didnt hear anything...then all of a sudden i saw smoke out the exhaust and hear a rattling noise from under the hood......i was able to coast 3 miles before i had to park it and walk less than a 1/4 mile home.....once i got it home and took it apart i found this...

and here is the progress from the past 7 months...

rebuilt Dart iron eagle platinum 200's with race valves and Howard dual valve springs that are a little stiffer than the last ones.

engine in the car...slow progress
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0327.jpg i picked up a tko 600 that had some shifting issues...here it is apart on my bench http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0005.jpg also picked up a lakewood bell housing http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0027.jpg |
transmission is rebuilt...(400.00 in parts)...had to replace the blocker rings and the 1-2 +3-4 synchro sliders along with and and 3rd gear.....LIbertys gears was excellent with getting me the correct parts.....
heres the trans installed http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0032.jpg http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0029.jpg |
fabbed up the waste gate dump tube back into the down pipe
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0017.jpg here it is finished http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x.../Photo0018.jpg |
i also had to pick up a new turbo since the t76 turbo ate quite a few piston peices.....should have the completed engine bay pics this week
It's coming along nicely! It will be better when it's done!
yeah im hoping so too.....once the body is redone then ill have the rest of the interior to finish
Nice. Mine's been at the bodyshop for the last 5 weeks. They are taking their time and it's not even getting completely done. lol
nice let them take their time...that way it comes out better.........
Looking good man!
You gotta take me for a ride sometime this spring man.
Yeah car coming along great. my only question is why turbo and Cast Iron heads. if you ran aluminum youd be able to run a ton more pressure.
they are dart iron eagle platinum 200 heads...got a good deal on them...practically brand new when i bought them before the engine let go....600.00 for the pair.....new thay are like 1400 for the pair....as to why i went turbo was the efficiency was alot better than the roots blower setup i used to run.......i run 14 lbs at the moment with no issues so far. im also at 8.5:1 for a compression ratio
no issues? didnt you just blow a piston or was that fueling related? 14 psi on 8.5:1 compression will put you in the 12-13:1 dynamic compression range. im not trying to be know it all. just trying to figure out how that things for more then 5 minutes at WOT.
the 1st picture was due to 2 things.....timing and valve float..........at that time i was running almost 10:1 compression......
looks good man
Ahh thatll do it. do you run meth too?

Nice work. I like your sig pic...

EVERYBODY likes that sig pic!! lol
haha could watch it for awhile
Looks good. Only suggestion I would have is to switch to a much bigger downpipe. That one is probly holding back 60rwhp at minimum and slows the spool time. The small downpipe can also cause engine damage from too much backpressure.

tubular k member or you could flatten a 4" flattened out/ovaled doesnt hinder the flow.

Also watch out with the wastegate dumping back into a restrictive exhaust. It can cause serious boost creep. |
