Best Street Strip Suspension Mods
So I was wondering everyone's thoughts about a street strip car suspension mods
Obvi a good pair of shocks and springs would help? What do people recommend?!?! What type of rating on the springs. I been reading alot of shit on tech and other sites. Just wondering what ppl have used what they like etc... Also I know the basics as far as LCA LCA Relocators SFC STB Poly Bushings TQ Arm what else would help? Brands you guys tried and liked? Thanks in advance |
no personal experience as of yet but i have heard really good things about the qa1 shocks

I use UMI for everything, awesome quality but I like the BMR SFC's better.

This is a very broad subject. So any stock suspension replacement is what you want. Spohn bmr and umi are all great pieces.

From poking around online seems umi has better customer support but don't have any personal proof if thats true or not.

only negative thing I've HEARD about one of the three of those brands is spohn has a tendency to have fitment problems with their torque arms.

replace everything in the rear, do a torque arm relocation bracket. stiffer rear springs and shocks seem to help out alot, ill have more feedback when i start racing my car again.

i suggest going poly/rod on the LCAs and PHB, poly/poly aftermarket lcas and phb create alot of bind, makes it hard for the rearend to articulate.

And get a relocation cross member. Get the torque arm off the tranny. Pinion angle can move if the mount gets weak.

I'm thinking about LCA relocation brackets for spectator drags. Hopefully help keep the rear planted better on a launch. I'd like to see if the benefit of that will outweigh the roll induced oversteer around the corners.

I stay away from all of UMI's stuff.
Ussually all BMR and make sure the LCA's and panhard bar are fully adjustable. Relocation brackets are needed if the car is lowered. |

scenario 1: the lca mounting point on the body is higher than the lca mounting point on the rear end........ result: when the car launches the rear end is trying to push itself forward in the body of the car with this downward angle on the lca it is forcing the body up and because of gravity holding the body down it is intern pushing the rear end into the ground aiding in traction....... scenario 2: the lca mounting point on the body is lower than the mounting point on the rear end..... result: when the car launches and the rear end is trying to push foward the lca pivot point is now pushing down on the body of the car instead of up.....intern pushing the rear end UP into the body giving that "squat" that everybody thinks is so great.....thusly removing weight from the rear end and creating a nice smoke show but no traction......... common misconception is that a solid alxe car that "squats" is hooking hard......this couldn't be any more invalid.......a properly set up car's rear fender well gap will actually grow on launch because the rear end is forcing itself down into the ground intern pushing the body of the car up..... hope that clears it up!!!! :D Mike |
