need a motor...
My brothers 98'for my needs a transplant, or a rebuild. Don't know what it needs so I'm trying to cover bases.
Anyone doing a swap with an LS1 that still runs? |
SBC swap!
Never gonna get fixed :p
You had a motor lined up on the cheap already give it up and junk it.
I know we had one lined up. He got the $ now... didn't have it then. So either he sits and waits a lil longer or he ends up paying a lot more. Problem is racing season is right around the corner so now is the time to get shit rolling.
Already spoke to the mad scientist and nothing laying around right now, hence the question to any and all who may be doing something. Stock replacement is all he needs and can afford now. If I had the coin to upgrade mine I would but paying it off is more my goal this year. Stock ls1 is all he needs though. |
PM me I have a connection with a 98 motor with a good amount of miles on it good for a rebuild.
there are cheap motors on craigslist. there was a complete short block for like 500 and a disassembled short block for 325.
goto the junkyard get a 6.0 LQ4 and run it.

yeah i had a quote for a 6.0 from everetts junkyard. all the accesories low miles in the 60k range for 750 bux complete from intake to oil pan. and he sed he'd throw in the harness if i wanted it un cut!!!
checked a few local yards n nothing coming up, but stock replacement is all he needs.
See my post...
these motors are every where, just look.
oh i am. just gotta find what best fit his co$t. in reality finding a perfect ready to swap motor is ideal, but we all know he's better off rebuilding whatever he ends up with before it gets swapped out.
How much does he have to play with?
Ive got 2 Lq4's in my garage complete. They are getting damn expensive now. One i bought last year for 600 the other this year more miles for 1500. I could possibly sell one for the right price
since the car already has a motor in it why not rebuild what you have? it didnt cost me much to rebuild my short block. and i bought a used pair of 20k mile heads for dirt cheap.
the last we knew the crank shaft reluctor wheel was pretty bad. snuck the snake cam in to take a look and found a good amount of the teeth were bent like something got stuck in there. that being said it would need to come out and be gone over bottom up. for what he needs and to speed up the process of getting things done it's easier to just swap the motor then rebuild it just to get him back on the road.
Just found out his wife is pregnant so he's going to need his car back on the road as soon as he can. budget is in range to get it all done under 3k. pulled/fixed/replaced/installed/running p/m sent to you Camaro9969 because a complete motor has got to be the easiest option. |

LOL at "speeding up the process" :p
what you want to spend? only need intake and oil pan.......these motors are getting to be a pain in the ass everyone wants them
looking at a few options might have one or two deals ready for him tomorrow (kids a pain in the ass when it comes to answering questions) and might have a local 01' LS1 with less than 80k on her was pulled for it's trans and harness for of all things an LQ9... lol
just get a junkyard iron block 6.0 for fuck sake none of this bottom dollar bullshit. swapping out an LS1 to a LQ4-6 is the same thing. and he will have a better motor........
dudes a cheap fuk. $2500 +/- is total budget. motor and swap.
ok how much will don install and tune a LQ for? thats the final question really. if the motor from the junkyard is 800+/- 200. do was selling a motor and Swap for what was it 1200 bux??? i doubt hes charging 1000 for a motor swap. But i could be wrong. and you still have 500 to play with. stop being a jack wagon and do your shit right ONCE!
I would. Don hasn't got back to me on #'s because he didn't have a motor. and once my retard answers me I can get the ball running on this. found motors, now need to pay for one, find a way to pick it up and get the fkn shit all towed up to Bridgewater.
I work for a transport co that all I do is all haul cars so just pm me n we can work something out
Do yourself a favor and stop letting your brother suck on your tit and say good luck your problem. Obviously this isn't working.
I have a guy who can get you a lq4 he has one with 140k on it for 750 if your interested complete same as any just need an oil pan
Problem is the car is in my driveway and I just hat to see the dead bird sitting there. Told him to get the $ together then I'll look into it. I know more people and have more friends (yes you guys) than he does I found what he needs, now its just up to him as to how and when.
Picking up a motor and towing the car in the same day would be ideal, but that's all up to him. Problems being solved. |

The simple answer is IF I get stiffed I'll part the car out... LOL |
Lmao. You'll get paid the day it's dropped off.
came home to find this in my garage waiting....

nice! how many miles on it?
76k... lol
kid we got it from has a ton of toys in the shop. got his hands on an 01' z28 dirt cheap with that many miles on it. all he wanted was the wire harness and trans. he's building an LQ9 and dropping it into an RX7 |
looks like the fly wheel has seen some play
has a new flywheel on the one coming out.
he wants the Oil Pump Back???? Forget that shit. you paid good money for it. tell him they are 50 bux at texas speed ported!
yeah i told him that it might not be wise to put a stock ls1 oil pump in his build, but TS pumps are like $130+.
i still gtg pick up the intake. if anything i'll give him the one we pull off the broken 1. |
