Watching that live was amazing. From that camera shot, he does a little wave then hops off and disappears. He hit 729 MPH!!!!!

According to the papers this morning he hit 833.9 mph!

I thought I saw 730+ on the video yesterday while he was falling so I don't know where they got that number from.

What happened to the balloon he was in?

The capsule parachuted back to earth, I think the balloon itself is either cut away or deflates and comes back down with the capsule.

The suit he wore was made right in Worcester by David Clark Co on Franklin St.

Troposphere is basically the layer we live within the atmosphere. Next is the stratosphere which goes from I think like up to like 30 miles. Next is the mesosphere, where all the shit gets burnt up if I remember correctly. I am pretty sure that's it because I remember all of us guys back in school making fun of it, mesohornysphere and your pecker will get burnt if you mess with that hooker lol.

aerodynamics come into play as well. You'll have a much slower terminal velocity face down arms spread then diving straight down.

People can withstand speeds of up to like Mach 6 or something. He just about hit Mach 1 so he wasnt exactly pushing the ultimate limit in speed here. Not that its not very impressive, just that it seems very possible

Also i believe those speeds are within an aircraft I just realized haha. What the human body can withstand outside of an aircraft I have no idea.

Keep in mind the atmospheric pressure at that altitude is just a tiny fraction of what it is at sea level. Terminal velocity changes with the shape of the object falling and air density. With almost no air molecules putting up any resistance he can easily fall faster than the speed of sound. It's all about air density. Pilots that have ejected from planes at near supersonic speeds have been killed or badly injured, but that's because the air density where planes fly is much higher.

The capsule was still hanging from the balloon. It had risen as high as the balloon could carry it.

They actually had valves that were able to allow helium to escape so that they could control the height of the balloon and capsule... to a degree

Thought they did have cameras on him. They did tell him to turn them on, they calculated his top speed messuring his descent time, as well as accelerometers on himself.
