Klab LT1 vs Santas STi
 

Me and my buddy did a few runs on the way back to the US from mexico city on an abandoned highway. The cars:

My 1995 Z28 A4 stock motor/trans
CAI, LT's, and ORY, magnaflow catback
cat egr and smog delete, 3.42 rear gears
KlabZ/SLPJoe tuned
stock converter

Santas 2011 STi
CAI, 3" downpipe, custom 3" turbo back
Cobb tuned, 17.5 psi boost

Run 1: 40mph I pulled on him off the hit and then he missed 3rd
Run 2: 30mph I spun slightly he pulled then i pulled back in front of him about 1 car and let off due to a crossing armadillo
Run 3: he told me later he chose 40mph, 2nd gear 5500 rpm to "get me" boom pulled him right away and just kept pulling. I put a little more than 2 cars I'd say on him to the top of 3rd, maybe 3 I didnt look but he way back there haha

I was pretty surprised. A couple days earlier Joe helped me with tuning my shift points. I haven't messed with the Air/Fuel tables yet the LC1 is in but seems to need calibration. Once that is dialed in it should be pretty mint, I would like to hit 12's before I install the converter. We will see.

Haha idk what's done to Mike's. Santa plans to have it dyno tuned and turn up the boost. After my converter is in and he does that I think it would be more close of a race. I was pretty stoked I beat a 2011 sti tho. I know they're fast. Now I need to kill some cars he has beaten in my area like an srt4 and an evo9 bolt on only.

My mods are FX300 clutch, launch control and no lift shift programmed into the ecu, 3" catless turbo back, electronic boost controller, FMIC, RFL BOV, Perrin short ram intake and tuned to 22.5psi. I think there might be a different outcome vs a sti that was under stock boost which is 14.5psi

Ask Benhoe how it runs. We did a few pulls on 495 when we were heading to dyno day. It was before I had my fmic and he makes more power than klab does.

Rolls. From a dig ill eat him. They were from around 50 in 3rd and he started pulling away at the top of 4th shifting into 5th. By no means if mine a highway top end monster. Get you out of the hole and its up to your car to catch me. Last Dynod it was at 290/325 at the wheels. Still need to go back to see what the fmic picked up.

Still solid numbers, figured it put out more, that was on the 22psi right?

and id say you have the advantage vs a stock stall car on a roll lol You don't think klab with a stall and tire would be able to launch with you?

I was talking to Santa while we were camping this weekend and he said it is 17.5 psi on sport sharp mode with the cobb tune. My mistake.

Yeah I'll race you Mike if you wanna come up this way street or track. My best 60' was a 1.981 when I did 13.202 @ 104.69 last September. What does your STi 60'?

I should see 1.7's. Maybe a 1.6 if I launch the balls off it. On the launch control it'll build about 9psi and launch at about 4500rpms. Just gotta get to the track and see what works.

yeah come up and race maaaaan! it should be good competition bolt on only STi vs LT1 even tho its a decade newer.

I saw the race between his STi and bens LT1, I would expect the Subie to win

if ben started in 3rd at 50mph its no wonder he didnt pull until the top of 4th. at 50mph with 3.42s, 2nd gear all day. even with my 4.30s i go down to 2nd at 50.

You'd have to ask him what gear he was in.

I was thinking 3rd at 50 was high too but I thought he might have 4:11s. I was at about 3000 rpm in 2nd going 40, would have been better at ~3500. But that's with an auto.

I don't think he was revving the motor high enough. He made most of his power up top

i dont think he was spinning it all the way to 7k but then again Klabs rev limiter isnt set at 7k either.

My limiter is set at 8k

no lie mine goes to 8k you just need a 5" tach because factory only goes to 7

I'm waiting for my 200mph speedo too so I can go past 150

I'm waiting for my second vf39 turbo to show up so I can put a second boost gauge in the open pod I have. Turbo for front and rear.

My car has 3.42's and in 2nd gear around 50mph she pulls between 3500-4500, or so it said at the tach when I looked down briefly to see what I was pulling before dropping into 3rd.

Seen some of the Ben/Mike ordeal on dyno day and it was some fun. Would've been fun to see what mine would have done with it :)

sounds about right, i was ~3000 at 40 in 2nd

3.42 with stock tires & t56

2nd gear @ 50mph = 4100rpm
3rd gear @ 50mph = 3000rpm

2nd gear @ 6700rpm = 82mph
3rd gear @ 6700rpm = 112mph

fix to actually what is being matched. This isnt about what Ben and I did on 495. Its what klab and I will do at the track/street.

And ben isnt running stock sized wheel and tires FYI so those would be off some.
