I did nothing of the sort but I'd guess that was the killer, this was a 25K mile 5.3 I was gonna save as a back up motor, not happening now. Good news is there are still 7 good rods, lol. Remarkably I can't find a lick of damage anywhere else on the engine, she must of just stopped cold.

ILuvPizzaTimes10 02-16-2010 06:33 AM

I think it has more to do with having had water in it, everything else but the pistons is spotless.

c4boom 02-17-2010 12:44 AM

I would just check it all out put new bearings in clean up the other seven replace the rods and slugs on the bad ones and run it

Batman 02-17-2010 12:59 AM

or i can just sell it for parts :)

c4boom 02-17-2010 02:27 AM

true forgot you had a motor for it all ready

Batman 02-17-2010 02:37 AM

Unless I need the block to fix the T/A, either way I wouldn't use this one, although I did pilfer all the sensors, the rockers, lifters, coils and some more stuff off this one

c4boom 02-17-2010 04:07 AM

hay nick whats a good price on a 6.0 block in iron and aluminum

Batman 02-17-2010 04:53 AM

$250 for Iron, and about $800+ for aluminum, assuming you can find either

c4boom 02-17-2010 05:42 AM

whats the weight difference? is it even worth the extra $$$

Batman 02-17-2010 12:52 PM

almost 200 pounds

c4boom 02-17-2010 04:29 PM

in just the block holy shit you better make some big power to make up for that HU. So how did that rod actually get like that

Batman 02-17-2010 07:53 PM

guessing it was a hydrolock. Yeah the Iron block weighs about 270#, aluminum is around 80#
