Tuning a 95 3.4 for Turbo
 

I just sent you an e-mail, but I will post here as well. I have a 95 3.4l with the bastard OBD 1.5. In addition to a ton of performance mods, I added a turbo and I looking at about 8lbs of boost. Can you tune OBD 1.5? If not, if I do a PCM swap to OBD 1, can you tune that for the turbo?

94-95 pcm are the same. But the problem is i dont see many bin deffinitions for the 3.4 and if there are some there not very complete. i would do a standalone like an FAST EFI system. they make one for the 3.8 i know but not sure about the 3.4.

Nobody has a canned bin def for the 3.4 anywhere? Tunercat does not have it?

I would do the ODB 1 swap before going stand alone.

or just hack that shit and use a fmu to make sure you dont go lean till you get the coin up for a stand alone

Why drop the coin for a standalone if I can do the OBD 1 swap to get the ability to tune? You have a link/model number for the FAST option for me so I can check it out?

I'd say do a cheap megasquirt before a fast. If you can find the tuning software or program I am sure don could tune it but your gonna have to find a starting point. I wouldn't know where to start. Maybe contact the guys with the v6 running 8's see if they have a bin file for something.

i dont get what you mean by an OBD 1 conversion. your car IS obd1. with an obd2 connector. aside from the connector its the same ecm as a 1994 car. i know HPTuners has a bin file for a 1995 M5 3.4 camaro. BUT i dont see it in there supported vehicles list. id give them a call. there really helpfull and there software isnt too shabby!

It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, my car is not OBD 1. I have heard it referred to as 1.5.

I talked to HPTuners a while back. They strictly deal with OBD II. They are the ones that told me to look at Tunercat.

Realizing I had guesses, conjecture, and limited knowledge to work with is why I am reaching out to tuners (hence this thread). I am done guessing.

tuner cats has the bin deffinitions for 3,4 monte's and luminas but no were listed are they supporting the 3.4 camaro. what could be so different? im sure GM would have been smart and used the same ecm and tune(auto) wich really wouldnt be all that different. shoot them an email if you havent already. i know your ecm is a chipped computer? if it is do you have a tuned chip in there now? if so i know do has all of my old software and chip reader/burner. ill set up a time with him if you want to see if i can read it and get a file that will read the binary off that chip. and i am 100% sure that the 1994 and 1995 ecm are the same with just a different connector JUST like the 94 and 95 LT1. only thing thats different is the ALDL cable. it LOOOKS like an obd 2 but if you plugged in an abd2 scanner it would laugh at you.

I am not sure what they really gains me. I need a dyno tuner who can tune the car. I think these are my options:

1. OBD 1 swap. Probably cost like $500. Then, someone with a chip burner can dyno tune, right?

2. FAST stand-alone. Been talking to them today. $2,300 for the unit + install. But then, I am OBD-II and fully tuneable with real software and no chips.

Megasquirt is an options, but sounds like a lot of f**king around. The ODB-I swap is easier.
