Wow, he has amazing tone. As amazing as his technical skill is, the sound he gets is what impresses me the most.

I would thank the equipment for that. He does have great tone but he's god a good quality bass there and probably the rig to go with it. Every note is nice and clear but good deepness at the same time!

Tone isn't just about turning knobs, a lot of it is in your hands. A really good player and a mediocre player playing through the exact same setup will sound completely different.

Exactly, but you still gotta thank the rig for that. Getting a good sound bass amp is hard! If he was plugged into a crappy bass amp setup he wouldn't sound like that.

What I was getting at though was that the tone that is unique to his playing is impressive. Anyone can buy top notch equipment and turn the knobs and make it sound good, but the playing still makes a huge difference.
