Video of a Giant Mako on the Fly

This guy hooked a mako on a fly rod that was between 500 and 800 pounds. This is truly a moment of a lifetime

Makos are crazy pretty much the only thing and can compare in speed to marlin. And as far as I know the only species that will actually follow the line to the boat and jump into it on purpose. Always wanted to catch one

Hell yeah man, that's almost as good as landing a giant! Mako's put up one helluva fight and run like a friggin madman on bath salts. Would love to hook into one of em sometime. Awesome video and especially cool doing in on a fly rod. Would've been kickass if they landed it.

LSX-Nation 08-09-2012 09:10 PM

I didn't know they are known to follow lines and jump into boats on purpose. That's crazy.
