Default how do you file your taxes?

i use turbo tax federal free edition and the Lovely Charge for the state return of 29.xx is understandable they need to make some money. But UMMMM wen they call it a freeeee edition and then have an additional 27.95 dollar fee on top of the 29 dollar fee for??!?!?! i dont get it. maybe i wont use them next year.

I use a pen and paper. It's free.

My taxes are pretty simple, I don't have a lot of deductions I could claim so I use the standard deduction. I file form 1040EZ for the federal and drop it in the mailbox. As for the state, I used to use telefile until they got rid of it. I think last year I filed online at the Mass DOR website, which is also free. I have never used software for anything. I know they have a program now where if you meet certain income guidelines you can use some tax software for free. I tried doing that once but it was complicated so I just did it by mail, and that's what I've been doing since.
