Default The new Project budget build

Welp, picked me up an lq9 today!!! here she is, shes pretty dirty, I spotted a problem already, two exhaust manifold studs seem to have broken off flush inside the head on the drivers side.

Not 100% sure, I havent looked at the pistons yet, the guy told me it has flat top pistons, but he could have been lying, so well see.

Idk, I asked him if the pistons were bowled or flat top, and without hesitation, he said oh theyre flat top, maybe I could look down a spark plug hole and see????

If you dont want to open up the engine.....

Not the most scientific way, but....Take a long phillips screwdriver through the sparkplug hole down to the base of the cylinder wall, softly drag it across the top of the piston. Since the 9 has flat top and the 4 has dished with a (t) pattern on the top, you will most certainly feel if its the 4 piston.
