I was just rading about the '11 Stangs in Motor Trend today, which got me to thinking.
First off, I'm really sick of reading on all the LS boards how much better the new 5.0 is than the Camaro, and how GM needs to get it's act together. WTF!! Talk about fair weather Camaro fans...Ford builds a GT that is a tenth or two quicker than the Camaro, and all the sudden GM sucks. Like the Camaro aftermarket isn't going to be better/cheaper than the Stang. Good luck with that head/cam swap on the 5.0...better hit the lotto first. Plus I'm betting that motor is pretty maxxed out as it is, and won't respond to mods nearly as well as the LS3 in the Camaro. I say it's about time the Mustang was finally been competion for the Camaro again. It's only taken ford 18 years to do it. Now racing a GT with a new Camaro or a modded older one is going to be a driver's race and not just a slaughter. I think that's great. What pisses me off is the V6 Stang..... 305hp, the 1/4 in 13.7 @102. WTF! My car is only a tenth quicker than the V6! That's what irks me... I loved the satisfaction of knowing that my ten year old, almost 100k, near stock F-Bod could beat a brand new GT ('10). I can take losing to the 5.0, but I hate the fact that the LS1 (at least the stock ones) is now competition for the V6 Stang! Ok, rant off. Guess it's time for heads/cam/stall!! |

Nah i hear yah Mike, Just wait. haha 5.0 nothing wen the next wave of LS power is unleashed. fair weather fans indeed. i LOVE my car and thats why i drive it. and people Just dont have that. just looking for whats BEST. fuck whats best and drive what you love. no matter if the next thing is faster, slower or may even look better. as long as everytime you get behind the wheel you Absolutely 100% without a shadow of a doubt LOVE it then who cares about Anything else anyone else or what they say about it.

well considering the new camaro spanked the competition when motortrend did their first match up of the 3 i would have hoped ford would smarten up lol...but still there is no comparison to the 2 the camaro just came back after 8 yrs and still beat them in the first match up. i have no doubts that chevy will come back with an even more insane camaro for this competition...chevys always had the upper hand when it comes to building nasty motors. i never take what they say for times as set in stone with mags either...that camaro is way more capable than a 13.1....and then we have looks...camaro>ugly mustang....lets see them keep up when the Z28 comes around!

Mustang also weighs 400-600 pounds less then the Camaro. They need to build a new 1LE or at the very least a track package. And the Z28 looks cool but I would much rather see a stripped down min frills Camaro with an LS7 under the hood and ZL1 on the fender. But that's me

The big thing I see with the new ford motor is that ford did a lot from the factory. There is going to be little room to grow with that motor in the aftermarket outside of FI.
I dont think you'll see those car pick up 20whp-40whp with bolt ons and a tune like the new Ls3s will |

And with the 11:1 those motors have I dont think we'll be seeing much boost from them.
