Default searching for a camaro (his dad's)

I got an email from Craig looking for the Camaro his dad had when he was a kid. On one hand, the car has probably been repainted 3 times since this picture was taken and the odds are not good, but on the other hand to be negative would suck. If anyone has any ideas, let them fly.

The only thing I'm wondering and I haven't asked yet, is.....did he post it on Camaros.net, camaros.org and yenko.net.

from Craig:

Good Morning,

My name is Craig M and I am from Blountsville Alabama. I am searching for a 1968 camaro that my dad used to own. He sold it to two guys that happened to drive by one sunday morning . This would have been sometime in the early 1980's . They were attending a university in Georgia and I think it was the University of Georgia in Athens. This car was a factory big block 4 spd RS/SS. It had the SS hood. At one point it had a inline shifter in it. but I think it may have had a H pattern hurst shifter in it when these guys bought it. It had white interior. The cars orginal color was blue. When my dad sold it the car had a distinctive silver paint job. The car had a 427 engine in it. I think the guys that bought sold it when they got back home. Someone called not long after he sold the car. This person bought it and was needing some information on it. I knew it was a 427 and that my dad had used a 454 block in the car because the 427 engine had been sleeved and started getting water in the oil. This person sent us a picture of the car at his house. His wife was sitting in the car holding a white poodle. I know this is a long shot but I know the car went to Conneticut. I found North east f body association website along with your contact information. I have attached a pic of the car as it looked when it was sold. I am the kid in the car and that is my dad driving. If you have any ideas on the best way for me to attempt to locate the car those ideas would be appreciated greatly. It would just be nice to see what the car looks like today.

Thanks again
Craig M

I wonder if he still has the Vin# maybe he can at least trace it back to the last person that had it registered to and it might help from there to track it down.

Thank you for your reply,

Unfortunately I do not have a vin . I appreciate the advice and information. I will post on the sites you mentioned and if i have no success I will contact Mr. Gould.

Thank you again and I hope you have had a great weekend!!!

Hi Craig,

Sounds like a very cool car!

Do you have the VIN?

I don't believe I have ever seen the car, but I have a two suggestions.

1) Post your info and picture on Camaros.net, camaros.org and yenko.net

2) Contact Bill Gould at: http://www.autoancestry.com/ He is very reasonably priced and is a great car detective. If he can't track it down, I am doubtful that anyone could.

I hope you are successful in your search!

David

I wonder if there's a way he can go to dvm in his state and see if there's a way to look up the past cars that were registered to his dad and go from there?

Hi Frank, I forwarded your suggestion on him visiting the Alabama DMV to try to get the VIN.

If he is able to get it, I will send it to you.
