I saved around 50 a month. i know it was stupid of me to drive it. I had no choice. I was in the middle of fixing my daily driver so it would pass inspection and was not running at the time. Had to get to work somehow. Its kinda hard to get a ride when u live by yourself. lol Of course that was the first time in 2 months ive driven that car off my street.

We all have done it. I had a street bike stolen years ago.Thought I was smart by saving 3-400 by taking it off the road.Cost me $8k.

I always shake my head seeing people taking off insurance to save a few bucks.

Looked at the car today to get a better estimate. You guys were right. There is more damage underneath everything than we initially thought. Trying to figure out the cheapest alternative. My friends uncle would let me use his shop to do the motor swap and i would have help from his workers.

1.) Buy a 98+ v6 camaro and swap out the whole drivetrain, but im not sure if i gotta replace the rear end or if the k-member is the same up front and probably some other things need to be replaced that i dont know of.

2.) Buy a 98+ SS or z28 thats cheap enough maybe with a blown motor or tranny and swap things over. Also pretty difficult to find. Im sure this would be the easier.

3.) Just go out and buy another one. (Dont really have the money to do that right now.)

Get a V6 chassis in good shape. you already have EVERYTHING you need for the swap from your SS. and yes the rear end will be different gears and posi or non posi. and the LS1 K-Member ONLY fits LS1's they are specific. as well as all the shit bolted to it. like the rack, suspension and such. id say if your lower and upper control arms are in good shape your K-Member didnt take a whack go for it. get a 2-3000 dollar V6 wait it out like i did and find the color you Want. and then just swap EVERYTHING!!!!!! fuel lines gas tank complete drivetrain interior and engine harnesses. there was slight differences between them all so its beast to keep all your wiring together out of your SS for a sure fit!

the list can go on. and you will find little small shit that is different through the years. but if you just swap it ALL over then you'll be all set. if you need any more help or info I or Nem SS can help you out just send a PM.

I think the only thing i whacked on the suspension in the front was a bent tie rod and when we were driving it into the shop, i think a ball joint broke (not sure what its called). so now one of the wheels is at an angle while the other one is straight.

Found a few on craigslist, but they're being shady bastards when i talked and emailed them.

better check your K-Member. just to be sure if you whacked hard enough to break a tie rod and a ball joint you will also be looking at a knuckl/spindle too. they bend REALL easy!! Nem SS on here can get you a pair or one at a decent price. send him a PM he works at an F-Body JunkYard.

I have the K-member out of my car.

Just think the whole process over. Buying a V6 and switching everything sounds good IF you don't mind spending a month doing it.(everyday)

The best deal is to buy another V8 car and part out your's.It will be cheaper and take a hell of alot less time.

After thinking about it for a lil while im gonna part out the car. I wish i could fix it but it's gonna be a lot. So if anyone is looking for some parts for a 98+ camaro im here. Most of the body is damaged. There was some impact buckling on my drivers side quarter from the impact. Frame and body in front and back shifted over. The rear hatch might still be good as i havent tried to open it yet for fear of busting glass. Drivers door is also good. Rearend and drivetrain are still good as is the motor and tranny. Still starts but leaking antifreeze. The radiator support is still intact and only slightly damaged, probably leaking from the lower hose. Interior is tan leather with a tear in drivers seat as usual but seats are still good. The hood can be easily fixed. Only the hood latch is bent and can be bent back. I will have more pics later this week when i can get a camera. If anybody wants specific pics let me know. Engine still starts up fine and tranny still shifts perfect. Passenger side wheels have a few dents and dings but look okay and can prob be pulled out. Other two wheels are fine. Motor is completely stock except for K&N filter and Slp loudmouth 2 exhaust. I will prob keep the catback exhaust though.

Pm me if u have ques.

My loss is .....maybe your gain?
