As founder Henrik Fisker said, “There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle. They don’t exist here.” So the Karma is being assembled at a plant in Finland.

That article is a little deceptive as to the fuel efficiency of the car. They point out that it gets "only" 20mpg on gas alone, and the equivalent of 52mpg on electric power, which they compare to the Volt. This is a large ultra luxury grand touring car, most cars in that class probably get about 10mpg. The Volt is a compact car. It's also a little bit vague about the situation regarding Fisker's plans for building the car. Fisker said that they couldn't find a suitable facility to build the cars in the U.S., but the article says there will be 120 white collar jobs in Delaware. The article also mentions the plant's capacity to make 200,000 cars a year will not be utilized, but this is clearly a car that will sell far far less than 200,000 units a year. And the money in question was a loan, so they didn't really "take" anyone's money. Not sure what I'm missing, it just seems like that article is somewhat biased.

To avoid a political disagreement I will simply say that donations for election were made and a seeming unheard of car company gets 100's of millions. I am all for corporate assistance if it creates tax revenue from new job growth. A well organized and detailed plan will reimburse the subsidy in short order, but returning a favor with the tax payers money is not acceptable. None of us could walk into a bank and say I have a idea, I want money, I don't have a place to work here in the states or even a proven product, but I still want money. We would either leave in handcuffs or spending a few nights in a padded room.

The "green incentive" in this case would only benefit the dreaded 1% (the smallest population among us).... The greater good, I think not.

Yeah it's a cool ass looking car, but doesn't do anything for me. Sorry I'm just an old school rodder of sorts when it comes to cars. I'd rather take a rat rodded 76 vega or old monza over that thing.

Certainly not paid for threw the taxes of the unemployed auto worker that this subsidy was intended to get back to work. Made in Finland, with non secured loans from the USA, backed with China bonds......crazy! It's a subcompact that weights over two tons, that costs more than double the average American family yearly income, with poor build quility. This loan will default, just wait and see.
