Ok he's a question, when I put my car away for the winter the breaks were acting up. When I step on the breaks I would have very low pedal, I thought I had broken line when I checked there are no broken liners, if I pump the pedal I have a good pedal and it doesn't go down with pressure on the pedal. But when I release the pedal and then step on the pedal again I lost the good pedal and its low again, I've chacked the vacuum to the booster and its got it. And the master cylinder is full of fluid. I didn't spend to much time on it because I was putting it away for the winter anyways. I was just wondering if anybody had some ideas what to look for when I uncover in spring.

Air/moisture in the lines?
Or, master going bad? Flush the fluid and see what happens would be my guess

I was thinking Master/booster as well. Maybe the Diaphragm ruptured?

stuck caliper slide. if you dont have a loss of fluid.

Also a loose or failing wheel bearing can cause the same issue. Say the wheel bearing is bad enough to have the wheel "lean". that lean forces the caliper piston back in and you "pumping it up" is doing nothing more but straightning the wheel out to achieve a good pedal.

I never heard of a wheel bearing, that's different. I will be checking for the problems in the spring, I appreciate the possibilities.

Yup, wheel bearing in our jeep caused me to lose the brakes cause when the wheel/caliper wobbled it compressed the caliper to the point where I had to pump the pedal to compress the caliper again.

it could be the the primary seal on your master cylinder seal and you are just having the fluid fail to compress into your line and is pushed into the equalization port and back into your "second" reservoir (we have dual reservoir master cylinders) also check for any leakage at the base of your master cylinder to your brake booster. if there is any leakage it's your secondary seal.

im willing to bet its not fluid related. as he sed he has no loss in fluid. any master cylinder leak (90% of the time they leak onto the floor IE the back of the cylinder.) either way... loss of fluid.

If you have a Haynes manual there is a how-to in there for checking the booster, just to rule it out.
