Smile started my cam/intake swap last night!

It's my first time doing a cam/intake swap. I'm also doing the new style ls6 PCV conversion. Just finished stripping the heads down and I'm taking a lunch break so I figured I would make a post.

List of parts included..

custom Patrick G spec'd EPS cam
PAC 1518 springs
Trickflow 7.425 pushrods
LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain
LS6 intake
New style LS6 valley cover & coolant tube
Port&Polished stock throttle body
Bosh 30lb/hr @ 43.5 psi injectors
Powerbond UD Pulley & belts
ARP crank bolt & cam bolts
Lots of new gaskets and seals.

Dreading removing/installing the crank pulley, hopefully I won't have problems with it.

OH and I did NOT break the oil pressure sender! haha I am proud of myself

I sent the computer out UPS last night to get it tuned. Hopefully I can drive the car afterwards out to Bridgewater and meet Don

Sounds good man. The crank bolt shouldnt be too bad as long as you have a big enough compressor and strong enough gun. If not then good luck.

I didn't really have that much problem with the crank bolt, and the balancer came off fairly easy once I got the right 3 jaw puller. 1/2 breaker bar with a 24mm impact socket, then a 4 ft piece of rigid pipe on it... started pushing from the drivers side and got around and started pulling down on it. Seemed like the bar just about bent around to the passenger side before the bolt broke free.

Right now I'm having a hard time getting the passenger side dowel rod in to hold the lifters out of the way. Driver's side slid in easy. Guess I'll just have to play with it some more.

I'll post some pics later when I'm done for the night!

Make sure you do not re-use the old bolt for the pulley, good time to switch to a re-useable ARP bolt

Yup. One came with my pulley when I ordered it from Scoggin-dickey

Decided to call it a night after I got the pass-side dowel in. the 5/16" rod would not fit, so I decided to use some 1/4" brake line I had instead. Worked out nicely.

Cam comes out tomorrow after work.

Very happy with the rattle can paint job on the intake. My buddy though it was brand new when he saw it today.
Doing pretty good for my first swap I think. Haven't broken anything yet (that I know of )

What, no faith in the lifter retainers?

haha. I like to be safer than sorry most of the time. Dropping the oil pan and fishing for a lifter would be another whole project in itself

if you are lucky enough that it makes the oil pan, I don't think it is clearing the crank, rods, and then there is also the windage tray in the way
