connecting rod bolts are known to be a weak point. Yes John(my84Z) I know your red convertible has stock bottom end blah blah blah. but more often then not. they break with cam only. the 1998 heads are junk. and the odd ball for the f bucket with the perimeter bolt valve cover. the computer is different then 1999-up tranny is good if you do a shift kit or have it properly tuned. but again goes back to the computer. if your not going crazy with a 6 speed the rear ends hold up fine for a while. it was the last thing on my list i did. also the thing i broke the most though.

So power adders? which ones. they are not all created equal. nitrous? kiss the bottom end good by sooner then later. super charger. it will last a little while. properly sized and tuned for turbo will probably be your best bet and bang for the buck without tearing the motor apart and upgrading some things.
