Default stumbled upon this...

info I stumbled upon somewhere, may have been ls1 tech.

Typically M6's cars consume 15-18% power loss through the drivetrain and A4's 18-22%. Going based on the assumption of M6=15% loss and A4=20% loss you would do the following

For M6: (RWHP * 100) / 85 = FWHP or rwhp / .85
For A4: (RWHP * 100) / 80 = FWHP or rwhp / .80

little experiment.

but I think theres a problem with the math.

found another equation that estimated drive line loss at 12-17%

drivetrain loss has been a battle from day one. figuring it out as one single percentage is not accurate AT ALL. so you have high milage A4? will it slip causing more drivetrain loss possibly. a "good" clutch. same thing at the top end under a load will it slip more drivetrain loss. apples for apples can NEVER be the case as everyones build and drivetrain health are different. i say what ever it makes at the tires is really all that matters. IF you want to know what it makes at the flywheel Cuz well its a bigger number...... see were im gioing with this.

I've always gone by 15% for manuals and 20% for autos, and from being at a few dyno days that seems to be pretty close.
