Driving threw Avon Industrial Park.......

traveling Maybe 45-50mph in a 25mph zone i see a COP sitting in a speed trap. as i pass by he starts to drive out of the parking lot..... 20 20 hind sight sez i shouldnt have been showing off my brand new 396 to a buddy going fast in a low speed zone AFTERRRRR my boss yelled at me to not get in trouble with my new toy!!!

So i drop it from 4th back to second and dont stop till i see 4500 rpm in 6th.......

that equates to ABOUT 165mph in an industrial park with YES very big inclines.....

i proceeded at that speed untill i saw the blue lights get smaller and the car came off the ground(yes all 4 tires) and hit the ground so hard the oil pan and headers sent sparks down the street(marks are still in the road).

i get away from the cops Stuned i am that i could out run a cop ran/radio.....

Not listening to myself and just turn down some side road and park the car and walk away. my buddy sez wich way to go So i listen......

hit a road block a town over and at GUN POINT yes get ripped from my car.

all in all DONT SPEED! its DUMB!

I've though about it many times in the past but driving a bright yellow first gen bird with blue flames made me pretty easy to spot lol.

My friend with an 86 cavalier on the other hand was up to 5 successful outruns by the time the motor let go lol. First time I ever got in the car with him we wound up losing an unmarked cruiser right down the street from high school. We hung out on a regular basis all the time after that

I was living in FL. a few years ago, had a job delivering framework lumber to construction sights in a flatbed with a hydraulic dump bed. fully loaded on US1 @ 6:30-7am in the middle of Jan. The air was cold so I had the heater cranked, and in order to hear the radio I had it turned up.
I was the only thing on the road at that time in the morning. and I was leaned over the steering wheel looking for the tiniest street sign to a new road that led into an orange grove they were beginning to develop. the posted speed was 45mph, I was traveling 40mph. because I was heavily loaded and looking for the street sign.
I passed through a small intersection that had a crossing guard who had just pulled up to her post and hadn't even gotten out of her car yet.
Now at this 1/2mile stretch of road the speed dropped from 45-30mph within a 1/4mile then back up to 45, so I stayed the course. after a few more minutes the heat finally thawed the windows so I turned it down followed by the radio. Then I hear the faint sound of a siren, now as I sad before I was the only thing on the road at that time in the morning. I was looking around for a cop or ambulance at this point, rolled the window down a bit and heard it loud and clear. Stuck my head out the window to find the cop up my ass behind my load where I could not see him.
I pulled over shut off the truck and hear this over the loud speaker. "Step out of the Vehicle with your hands on top of your head and walk backwards to the rear of the vehicle!" Now I'm confused, so he repeats himself.
At gunpoint this guy is giving me this story of how he's been following me for the last 5miles after I went past the crossing guard station. I look down the road to see the now flashing yellow light at that intersection no more than 1mile down the road. "I have a road block up the road waiting for you" he says to me and I started to laugh.
2 min later 2 bike cops, 2 state cops, 1 county cop, and 1 DOT cop show up. They were the road block. Gave all my info to the one who stopped me then went to talk to the others. After telling them the story they all laughed, apparently I got stuck with the idiot on the force. who made this huge deal over me driving 5miles over the posted speed limit for about 1300ft. (or for the slow ones that is close to a 1/4mile).

funniest ticket I ever got.
