The reason GM cars have so much room in the wheelwells is for tire clearance with TIRE CHAINS. I remember reading this years ago. They have only just recently started cutting down the space in the wells on their newer cars.

Yep, that would be the one. Except I think people think I'm a v6 cause it missing badging and it looks like sin. Don't they get a lovely surprise when the light turns green haha.

No actually it was in the 80's dickwad! It was only in the last few years that GM has been tightening up the wheelwell clearances.
