When I took the plate out there was a gasket and a open area and a tube coming from the tb in the middle and a smaller opening in the corner of the tb. I tried looking around in different sites, I'm not to familiar with fuel injection and throttle body's I was just wondering what pocket was for.

Underneath the plate is a passage where air goes to the breather hose that plugs into the passenger side valve cover. It is part of the PCV system. There is a gasket under the plate to seal it up. It will also have a film of oil underneath it, unless you put a breather filter at the other end of that hose. Might want to put an airfoil in the front of the TB too if you're taking the cover off. And if your cover didn't come with a new gasket make sure the old one is in good shape, if it doesn't seal tight you will have a vacuum leak.

Thanks alex there is a film of oil there and I'm going to get a new gasket for it the old one was shot. I'm so use to carberated engines never did follow the rubber hose back to the valve cover to see what it did.

I found a trick on another forum to keep the oil out of there. Where the hose goes into the valve cover there is a plastic 90* elbow. You can replace it with a breather filter from Advance or AZ that will plug right into the valve cover and the hose, and it keeps the oil out of the TB.

As for TPIs, I thought they used the same TB as LT1s too, maybe the PCV system is different.
